NDG Little League BaseballMichelin Tournament 2007 (Junior Level) |
|
Introduction NDG Minor Baseball is proud to host its' 4th annual Robert & Steve Michelin Tournament. This tournament was started in 2004 to commemorate these two coaches who each circum, within one year of each other, to the disease, Cystic Fibrosis. Rob and Steve were dedicated coaches who made an impact with the kids they coached. This tournament was started and will continue to be held to honour their service to our league and to all the lives they touched.
PHILADELPHIA, NY WINS 2ND TITLE IN THREE YEARS The Philadelphia, NY Athletics have won their second Rob and Steve Michelin tournament title over the past three years. NDG's team, the Junior Lynx did very well in the tournament making it into the semi-finals with a 2-1 record losing to Cornwall 4-1 in a semi-final game in what was probably the best game of the tournament. Starting pitcher Zachary Aaron, for the NDG Lynx, held Cornwall to one run up until the seventh inning when Cornwall went onto score three unanswered runs in the top of the seventh to put the match out of reach. Zachary Aaron's pitching performance, up until the seventh inning was spectacular as his off-speed pitch kept the hard hitting Cornwall hitters off-balance. In the final game, Philadelphia, NY which had lost 11-0 to Cornwall in the round-robin portion of the tournament put two runs up on the board in the first inning and never relinquished the lead. Cornwall continued to fight back including having the tying runs on base in the seventh inning but were unable to cash them in to square things up. Exford who started on the mound in the final game for Philadelphia, NY, won the MVP Award for the tournament with his 5 for 8 performance including three triples in the round-robin portion of the tournament.
