Game One Summary

NDG Lynx  4   -  East Nepean (Ontario)  7

Friday August 4th, 2006

By Domenic Chiovitti

The boys jumped to a 3-0 lead right from the start. But Ontario slowly picked away. It was 3-2 after one and then Ontario went ahead 5-3 in the 4th. NDG made it 5-4 in the 6th but Ontario put it out of reach in the 6th going ahead 7-4.

Still the defence was very sharp and solid and we out hit them 8 to 7. Our base running was not so sharp and their

defence, other than their catcher throwing out 3 attempted stealers at 2nd, was very shaky.

Close game but we should have taken this game. I think the boys will learn something from being in a tight game - they have not been in many.

With regards to our pitching, Danillo and Justin were shaky. We walked too many batters and it came back to bite us.

Matthew Chiovitti did not play as he still could not throw. He played the minimum at first and came in as a pitch runner twice.  The owner of the Bulls referred us to a Physiotherapist, Mr. John Power, which we saw yesterday before the opening ceremonies. He performed some ART and probably some voodoo and Matthew went from not being able to throw to throwing after a brief 15 minute session.
